POP TIP VI:
Understanding Self-Directed (SD), Call Reluctance (CR)
& Uncertainty Coefficient(UC) |
Self-Directed (SD) |
- The Self-Directed (SD) score measures a candidate's self-confidence and personal control over issues in life at the time of the assessment. A low SD score means something is happening in the candidate's life, which could affect a fast-start performance. Carefully check this out. What is happening could be financial, physical, spiritual, marital, etc.
< 25 Caution |
Low self-esteem and/or problems with personal control. |
51+ Excellent |
No problems with self-confidence or personal control over life/goals. |
26 to 50 Average to Above Average |
Average to above average level of self-confidence and personal control over life/goals. |
Coaching Tips:
- If a candidate's SD score is high (for example 60+) and the Uncertainty Coefficient (UC) score is also high, it may mean he tried to portray himself as someone he is not. It is important to look closely at these scores to make sure the SD score means that the candidate's level of self-confidence is high. If the EP, AP, and IP scores are good, then the high SD is probably accurate.
- If a candidate has low AP and IP scores and high SD and UC scores, you may have a dependent, people- and service-focused candidate who wants you to think his self-confidence is high as well. What you have is a chameleon — someone who will interview well, but has major issues. Be careful.

Call Reluctance (CR) |
- The Call Reluctance (CR) score measures
a candidate's attitude toward call reluctance. The CR score is descriptive not predictive. It measures attitude toward call reluctance, which reflects a candidate's recent experiences at the time of assessment. This can be addressed and trained to.

< 10 Caution |

11 to 25 Caution Some Concerns |
51+ Excellent |
-
Please note that, when you look closely at the CR scale on pages 11 through 15 of the POP Assessment results, you have questions to ask in the interview process. Make sure that you take advantage of these.
Uncertainty Coefficient (UC)
- The Uncertainty Coefficient (UC) tells you the if the results of the test are reliable.
- The POP uses what is called a "bipolar scale." A bipolar scale measures each item 11 times on the positive side and 11 times on the negative side. This means that it is very difficult to "cheat" on this test.
| |
0 to 55 Okay |
Okay. Results are on target. |
| |
56+ Caution |
Caution. Check SD and CR scores. | |
